About The Oceanic Press
The Oceanic Press was founded by Charlie Gallagher, a 21-year-old content creator from New Zealand. Prior to the creation of The Oceanic Press, Charlie created news content centered around New Zealand, reaching hundreds of thousands of people with his news content. Once he got the idea to create a page solely dedicated to news, he had to act. Charlie launched The Oceanic Press in October 2024 with a clear mission: to deliver unbiased news coverage to Oceania, as fast as possible, to as many people as possible. Originally known as Oceania Today, the platform quickly gained a following of 180,000 on Instagram. However, in July 2025, the account was banned. Rather than giving up, we seized the opportunity to relaunch Oceania Today as The Oceanic Press with renewed focus and determination.
Rebranding the company, we launched a news website and expanded onto TikTok and Facebook. Today, The Oceanic Press covers a wide range of topics, from breaking news to cultural insights and fun facts about New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific Islands. The platform has grown to over 200,000 followers across all platforms, reaching on average around 100 million views monthly.
The mission of The Oceanic Press is clear: to deliver unbiased news coverage to Oceania, as fast as possible, to as many people as possible, and to share the stories, cultures and facts of Oceania with the entire world. We are dedicated to providing timely, accurate, and impartial news that keeps the audience informed. We also aim to create posts to reach outside of Oceania sharing the best parts of all of the cultures inside of Oceania. From the diverse cultures of New Zealand and Australia to the unique traditions of the Pacific Islands, the platform aims to bring the heart of Oceania to a global audience. Alongside serious news coverage, the company seeks to highlight the fun, vibrant, and rich cultures of the region, giving them the recognition they deserve.
The Oceanic Press is a one-man operation, with Charlie Gallagher running the entire platform. Notice how in this about section we keep referring to us as “we”. That’s so it doesn’t sound like its actually just me, Charlie. There are no employees, just me. While The Oceanic Press is for profit and is profitable I don’t currently actually need employees. Maybe one day. But for now, its just me running the show.
also, our logos/branding were done entirely for free by the amazing Fresh Look Studio
