Perth TikTok Star Avoids Jail After Livestream Threat to Kill His Mother

Turan Salis, a 23-year-old TikTok personality known online as “Turan Spidey,” has avoided jail after pleading guilty to threatening to kill his mother in a disturbing livestream.

The incident, which took place in July, saw Salis broadcast a video in which he made graphic threats, saying:
“I feel like just going home and bashing the f*** out of her, just f****** stabbing her, just f****** decapitating her.”

Police were called after the footage was sent directly to his mother, who immediately contacted WA Police. Salis was arrested soon after and charged with making threats to kill.

Appearing in Perth Magistrates Court, the social media influencer admitted to the charge. During interviews with officers, Salis claimed he made the comments “for content, because I am a content creator.”

His lawyer told the court that the threats were not genuine, arguing that Salis had been chasing engagement online. “The more controversial the content, the more engagement, the more exposure, the more profit,” the defence said.

The court also heard that Salis lives with autism and psychosis, which may have affected his judgment.

Magistrate Dianne Scaddan said that being a content creator was “not an invitation to say exactly what you want when you want and purge yourself to the detriment of others.” She urged Salis to think before broadcasting such statements again.
“You must show good sense, control and thought before you push the button that sends out this purge to every person capable of hearing it,” she warned.

Salis was sentenced to a 10-month community-based order and granted a spent conviction, meaning the offence will not appear on his record if he complies with court conditions.

The TikToker, who has over 385,000 followers, left court without comment. The case has reignited debate around the boundaries of online content creation and the growing trend of social media users engaging in shock tactics for clicks.
