Police Officer Rescued After Patrol Car Crashes into Blacktown Home

A dramatic rescue operation unfolded in western Sydney on Tuesday afternoon when a NSW Police patrol car crashed into a residential home, leaving one officer trapped for nearly an hour and a half. The incident occurred on Bungarribee Road in Blacktown around 3pm when the police vehicle, which was responding to an urgent call with lights and sirens activated, collided with a Mitsubishi SUV at the location.

The impact was severe enough to send the patrol car through the fence of the house, with the vehicle ending up against the structure itself. Inside the damaged vehicle was a 25-year-old female probationary constable who found herself unable to escape. The male constable driving the police car sustained only minor injuries in the collision.

Emergency services swiftly mobilized to address the crisis. Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Adam Dewberry explained the scope of the rescue effort, noting that "specialist rescue trucks were sent to the scene, removing the roof from the vehicle to free the constable." The extraction process took approximately 90 minutes as rescue personnel carefully worked to extricate the trapped officer without causing further injury.

Once freed, the female constable received treatment from NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene before being transported to Westmead Hospital. She was treated for minor injuries sustained during the collision. The 30-year-old male driver of the Mitsubishi SUV was cooperating with police as part of their investigation into the circumstances that led to the crash.
