Two Climbers Dead After Fatal Fall on Aoraki Mt Cook

Two climbers have tragically lost their lives after falling while attempting to summit Aoraki Mt Cook. Police confirmed that four climbers were making their ascent just before midnight on Monday when two of them fell near the mountain’s summit.

The two surviving climbers were able to call for help, and search and rescue teams quickly responded. However, the bodies of the two fallen climbers were not located until 7am Tuesday morning, when they were spotted.

A recovery operation is currently underway to reach the bodies, but officials have yet to provide further details on the cause of the fall.
